Tawny

We have resident Tawny Frogmouths in the valley here. Years ago,
when I was a foster carer and rescuer for WIRES (Wildlife Information
and Rescue Service), I cared for a few of these birds.

They are quite amazing nocturnal birds, but not owls.

Caught this one in our backyard, we sight them often as their territory
is near here.

He was quite active and pruning himself, not ready to sleep in 'the part
of a tree' pose.

I sometimes wonder if these are related to those I released years ago?

Just nearby, our tree ferns are doing well next to the pond.

He's sitting in a Turpentine tree, just behind and above the pool pavilion.
Below one of my artworks of a Tawny.
