The Lost Artist - Finding Charlotte / Part 2.

Here is a space I'll reserve for the further findings of my Great Aunt Charlotte,
my Grandmother's eldest sister.

She was an artist, school teacher, spinster who died tragically young. Her artworks
were locked away in a trunk for 40 years, until they saw the light of day again.

Now she has become my quest. Photos will be displayed here, and further
information as I find it, or photograph it.

At the moment I am photographing her hand-painted china, and like family history,
two generations later - packing it into vintage metal trunks, so it survives the move
to my place.

I might contact the school she worked at, to find out if there is any information there.

You can see her signature - C. Adlam.
This is a set of 4 plates, all berry fruits.

 Several quite grand vases.
Violets are my birth flower

This is interesting, it matches the other vase, just has a different design on each side. See 3 pics down.

This is a piece of Ruby glass that belonged to her baby sister, my Grandmother.

Finding Charlotte - The Lost Artist

Here is a page I will dedicate to my Great Aunt Charlotte, my Grandmother's
oldest sister of the ten siblings.

She was an artist, teacher, and died tragically young - a spinster. Her artworks
were stored away for 40 years until they saw the light of day again.

Not much can be found on her actual life, but I am slowly finding her, amongst
what I have just inherited.

The reason she has become a misty legend, is that she died when my Mother
was only 3, she was my Mum's Godmother. There may have been 20 yrs
conceivably between her and my grandmother's ages. My Grandmother was the
baby of the family.

I will add to this archive from time to time. Next to come are the hand painted
china pieces she did, photos of her, her craft work, and whatever else comes to
light.

Who knew, the glazed brown pot top shelf far left, is hers.

There are 4 of these hand painted plates.

One of the rare oils, the biggest and most atmospheric. Others are a tiny tobacco tin with seascape,
and 3 farmyard animals on circular tin shields. Probably from her family farm out Bathurst way.

Inside this cabinet, many vases with hand painted botanical specimens on them.

A picture of her mother, Hannah Palser Prior, her wedding dress is currently
on display in The Powerhouse Museum.

In this room, the oil, the dresser with 4 plates, and a picture of her mother in old age.

The cabinet with many vases, and a lovely waratah watercolour on the wall is hers.

Below is a doll owned by her baby sister, my grandmother. A piece from a teaset her youngest sisters
played with, and the 3 Sydney scenes as they are uncropped. We also have the cedar boards she
pinned her paper to. There is a painter's palette, is it hers?

Below is the studio where we find a trunk full of her watercolours, and heirloom linens,
and a suitcase owned by Annette Kellerman.

Craft Camp

My friend Frances invited me to a weekend away, a type of craft retreat at a
beachside suburb.

Nothing to do but create, eat and sleep! Other people doing the cooking and
cleaning up - Bliss!

I did very overdue scrapbooking pages, lots, of my children, albeit heaps younger!
The next day card making, and as the weather improved in the afternoon, a solitary
beach walk.

The view outside the cafeteria, green playing fields, treeline, and sea views.

My beach walk, a lovely afternoon, families, dogs and a very funny story about
an excited young boy finding, of all things a coconut.

Below, love the curves on these boats.

More Alpaca Farm animals

Lots of animals at the farm, pigs, dogs, alpacas, birds in aviaries, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, sheep etc.

Different colour Alpacas, white and dark brown.

A terrific huge cage habitat for the guinea pigs and lop eared rabbits.

A baby alpaca feeding from it's mother, the babies are very cute.

More Misty Hunter Mornings

I get up early, even away, don't want to waste a minute! So I was able to capture
the beautiful frosty, and misty mornings, late Autumn.

I found it interesting to see things gradually emerge from the mist, trees, mountains
and farm animals.

Our Views

We live where we do, more so  for the views and the natural aspect,
flora and fauna.

The house is large, and has served us well. It is still in need of work
though, and we have been here for 32 years.

That is now an issue, as first renovations now need doing again. The
house goes back to 1930 in parts.

The bird life is wonderful, there are Echidnas and Wallabies, we have
room to grow herbs and have chickens.

The garden has been neglected for a while, but I am just getting back
onto it.
Wonderful double flowering Gymea Lily, with Blue Gums.

Rebecca saluting her Great Grandfather, wearing his war medals. Probably Anzac Day.

The kids decorate the deck, marmalade jar lanterns, Tibetan flags. Main deck, overlooking the valley.

Two more tree ferns have sprung up next to the pond. This is back yard.

 Some visitors, two King Parrots.

 The front yard.

Samantha doing her sister's hem for Formal. Lounge/dining area.

The bathroom mirror and moth, kid's bathroom.

Samantha getting ready for some dress up themed school day. Her room is too small
for all her gear, or she needs to tidy up.

Below are the kids in the rumpus room or bar last Christmas. They seem to have outgrown
the tree! The bar is supposed to look rustic and olde worlde, hence exposed brick wall.

The Further Adventures of Bobo the Wunderkitten...

Our cat up to his old tricks, putting himself in funny positions, quite comical.

He obviously thinks he is smaller than he actually is, and has some weird fetishes:
plastic, Xmas trees, any box, any basket.

Here are some recent humorous antics.

He does a great 'Snoopy' impersonation balancing on top of the lounge.

He considers all baskets no matter how full or small fair game.

 See I fit.

 I also sit on boxes.

 In I go.

I am a guardian to the sick.
