A marvelous milestone - the girl's 21st birthday

Samantha and Rebecca turned 21 yesterday. What a fantastic achievement.

They have developed into wonderful people.

We celebrated with them, and their fiance and boyfriend, Gordon and Mike
at a Central Coast restaurant called The Bamboo Buddha.

The girls were each given a special florist bouquet from us.
Samantha's was Flowering Gum Blossom.

Rebecca's was Proteas.

Like a trip to Bali without catching  a plane.

We had our group lunch in our own Bali Hut, so private and tranquil.

The colours and textures of the garden setting were lovely, as was this textile for a tablecloth.

The thatched roof above had interesting striated roof trusses.

The freshly squeezed juices came with bamboo patterned straws, cute.

Glorious Bromeliads.

Little paths meandered throughout and a small creek flowed into a larger Koi pond.

The fish were so large, and a man fed them by hand, with their
heads coming right up out of the water.

Giant Bird Of Paradise palm-like plants.

The pinnacle of the hut had this curious carved character. Moss was growing on the roof.

The moss on this water garden was flowering.

Buddha statues of all sizes, and images are around the garden.

Our group, in and slightly out of the sun.

The meals were great and so were the desserts. I had a warm Brownie with
a chocolate sauce, ice cream and strawberry.

A happy Bec does a final pose, before all the young folk whizzed off in
Gordon and Sam's new car. A sporty number in a zingy lime.

Newcastle day away

I had a great day in Newcastle with my friend CC. It was an early
start and the misty morning hadn't cleared yet as I travelled up by
train.

Though that didn't matter to me, as I knew often a morning like
that clears to a brilliant day - which it did.

The day before had rained. It wasn't allowed to this day, it had to
be clear as I don't see her often and we were both looking forward
to it.

I've seen the Hawkesbury in many of her moods, and I have done
lots of photos and art from it.

We walked and talked, and talked and walked. A short ferry trip
across to Stockton Beach and back for lunch, fish and chips of course.
Topped with Gelato for dessert, perfect.

I can't wait to go back.

This was the misty morning view taken through a moving train's window

The sun breaking through the mist and cloud.

Little houses dotted along the shoreline, water access only.

 A blur but a memory.

Reflections and the mist is lifting.

Across the water from Newcastle, a short ferry ride to Stockton Beach.

 The view to the lighthouse.

So it did turn out to be a beautiful sunny day, we walked so much
and got quite sunburnt, in spite of hats and sunscreen.

Exhibition at the library

These are some pics from our current exhibition 'No Pressure'.
It is held at our local library. Here is a small selection.

We had quite a section on botanicals.

Jess' first exhibit with us. Her precise and lovely lino timepiece.

Mikaela's stunning and vibrant reduction linocut.

 Mikaela's fellow Karaoke characters. Drypoint.

 My 'Lady in red' linocut.

Lorraine's visual poetry - a Gelli print on organza fabric with embellishments,
collage and embroidery. A development from a workshop piece.

Two of my Hawkesbury pieces, a Drypoint pelican with collage and additional watercolour,
below a mixed media Drypoint on collaged and hand dyed papers and textiles.
