Gelli Workshop 1, 27/5/16

The first Gelatine print workshop today at Wallarobba.
It went smoothly with everyone producing great prints
and lots of them.

We also had some former members visit, Anne and June,
which was nice.

Present today: John and Pat, Maureen, Lorraine, Michelle, Robin, and Marianne.

 Demonstrating placing leaves as stencils.

 A negative print of leaves.

Adding another layer of a different colour, leaves still in place.

 Hand burnishing.

 A two-coloured print.

The plate can be wiped clean with water and cloth, or a wet wipe.

A residue of plate tone is left behind.

John has a chance to sit for a change.

A new colour and preparing for combing.

Dragging the plastic comb across the surface.

 A combed result.

Wrapping up talk and demo, a last print, and some questions.

Handcrafted Hawkesbury

I get easily bored, so therefore have to do lots of experimental
things creative-wise.

I had hand dyed textile and paper towel pieces, with food dye
colours which are lovely and bright.

So overprinting them with a black drypoint was something to try.

Busy printmaking day.

Finishing off a few prints, Hawkesbury River series, maybe
a small exhibition of 4 people.

Last session before the workshop I'll run next week. I hope
they enjoy it.

Due to backburning across Sydney and into the mountains
it was smokey, don't know if that is why we had such spectacular
sunsets this week.

Now it is confusing, in printmaking we have 2 Robin's, 2 Sue's,
2 Caroline's, 2 Michelle's, 2 Lorraine's.

Sunset from our balcony, the sun sets West behind us.

Other Michelle's Harbour bridge reduction prints get another colour added, one more to go.

My nude: the finally dry, oil based ink lino in white on black, compared to red on white.

Maureen has a good Sharpie outline to do her carving.

 Judith carves her lino.

Other Michelle's Sydney Harbour Bridge reduction lino. One more colour to go.

Strength of colour added to the Sydney print.

Cecily's 'Night time at Government House'.

My pelicans with hand-dyed paper and textile collage.
Will add some watercolour next I think.
