Visiting a family home and area.

I travelled to Croydon, an inner-city suburb, to visit my great grandmother's
home she shared with her three daughters, after she was widowed.

One of the daughters would marry, and be my grandmother, and the other two
sisters remained spinsters.

One, Charlotte, died there quite young at 49. The house sadly has seen better
days, it was apparently quite attractive when my relatives lived there.

There is a large, 2 storey addition tacked on at the back, so probably not any
backyard left. It is unsympathetic architecturally. The house was named 'Glen
Isla' but no name plate remains. This is a Scottish rerence.

The garage is probably an addition. The gates may be original, the front door
probably not.

The last remaining daughter rented and eventually sold it.

A lot has changed locally, and modernised, with low rise units. Though a fair
bit has stayed the same, including a strip of charming old shops.
