Sunrise at the beach

Dawn photography takes a bit of planning to get there at the right time. I was a
little late the first morning, arriving at 6.15.

So the next two times, I got up earlier and as soon as the first glimmer of light
made it safe enough to walk the streets I got there before 6, about 5.45.

The last morning, which was also Australia Day, I drove to a lookout which had
180-degree views and a good elevation.

I need to be more mindful though of getting my horizon line level.

Surfers are a keen early group too.

I could even sit my camera on this wall for stability.

Looking across to Manly.

Full daylight now, and finding these sweet coastal flowers just next to the lookout.

Australia Day, and still at the beach.

On Australia Day I thought most people would be enjoying the outdoors. So I headed
for the big galleries in Sydney. The MCA and the AGNSW.

A wonderful concertina book, hoping to do the same myself one day soon.

I found these banners for Rembrandt in the foyer of the AGNSW quite amusing.

A lily pond in The Royal Botanical Gardens resplendant with a Sacred Ibis.

I didn't realise there were tortoises too.

There she still is, sketched by me years ago.

These old double-decker buses were still being used when I was young.

Leaving Sydney, back to Manly, and finally back in Freshwater.
Another charming cottage, love the sandstone.

Holiday stay by the beach

Nearly a week was spent at a Sydney beach suburb, minding my daughter's unit.

Marvelous sunrises, walks, and travel to other locations.

This is the lovely sight that greeted me on arriving to mind Sam's unit.

Frangipanni just outside the balcony.

Casual beachy shoes decorated by me.

The view across to the next bay and Manly, the castle on the hill.

People and seagulls.

Happy pants and sandy toes. Still a remnant of wedding nail polish.

Sam has very artistic dinnerware.

I find a quiet little beach at Fairlight and set up my beach mat for a cooling swim.

Sunrise at the local beach.

The early start of the surf clubs on Australia Day.

Dawn and gulls.

Early birds, photographers, yoga enthusiasts, walkers, joggers, surfers and fishermen.

Patriotism and cute cottages.

Even ugly red brick walls look better with Frangipannis!

Always have to collect seaglass, and botanical specimens.

My thank you card to Bec, who minded home, cat and chickens for me.

The ferry leaves Manly for the city.

Sydney Harbour is alive with boats of every description including Navy vessels.

Striking a pose on the ferry into Circular Quay.

Crowds all along the foreshore and Opera House. The stage set for the evening concert.

Fabulous hair bow.

Outside of the MCA.

Cheeky me, wandered into an area for kids to experience art activities.
Left my artwork, so now can say I have my art in the Museum. Ha ha ha.

Wonderful tall ship and crew.

Installation of old sandstone architectural pieces.

Near Old Government House.

Blink and they're gone, screaming loud fighter jets do a fly over the city.

Synchronised yachts in formation.

Bin chicken number 35.

Love this sculpture that alludes to the colonial past.

Know this girl well as I had to sketch her nearly 40 years years ago.

Sam and I saw this installation in Melbourne a few years ago.

To highlight the global plight of bees, this natural sculpture.

Marvellous colouration on this water hen.

Enjoying exotic colour in the gardens.

So sweet the way people add flowers to this sculpture.

At last a respite from endless walking on this day, the cafe at AGNSW.

Delectable lemon meringue pie and juice.

Each table alerts a problem with birds.

This is why.

Colour play in the gallery, on a light box.

Thi fairy tale like piece has rich gold accents.

I though the juxtaposition of the girl and the large art work interesting.
